OK Now that summer is here, who wants to discuss car washing methods?
I need to clean my car by hand after the winter, but I'm not sure the best approach. I don't think it is worth going for show quality, as it's a DD, but I want to take care of it.
What are your favorite products? How often do you wax?
Share links if you got em! I've read many "how-to"s about it, but if you have one you especially trust I'm all ears.

After having run my own auto-detailing company for a few years in my low 20's, this is not something I do any more. Fuck it, i'll pay some other chump to do it. But i will touch the wax one. I prefer a good solid carnumba wax once in the spring and once in the fall. In between the spray and shine shit is just fine.

No where near summer where I'm at :-(.
As for your car, go to a self service car wash and use the pressure washer to blast off all the remnants of winter. Then take it home and do a hand wash, 2 buckets with grit guards. Use a paint cleaner or cleaner wax to remove any imbedded grime then apply a sealant. For soap can't go wrong with chemical guys wash and gloss as far as price and effectiveness.

Dude....
YouTube > search "/DRIVE Clean" > watch videos. Also look up "AMMO NYC" because it's still Larry doing the same types of videos on his own channel as well.
This one is a good place to start:
As is this one:

The 2-bucket method actually entails 3 buckets though...

I second the /Drive Clean and Ammo NYC vids, but my favorite are definitely the Chemical Guys videos. They have HUNDREDS of videos explaining absolutely EVERYTHING conceivable about detailing. They also make fantastic products! I'm transitioning to their products now, and absolutely love them! They aren't that expensive, and most come really concentrated. If you would like I can give you a set of videos they make that are the best to start out with. Just let me know, because I would love to help you out with detailing. I remember when I was just starting out with trying to detail, and had no help, so I would love to help. I can also come up with a 'shopping list' for you to get from Chemical Guys if you would like. Just let me know!

This site has a shit ton of stuff! lol looking through them and meguiars, etc, sooo many products.
I definitely wouldn't mind a shopping list of what you use. The /DRIVE clean videos seemed sensible, with the wash>sealant?>carnauba method.
I really liked how he used the foam blaster against the mitt. Seemed to work well without scratching. Though $50 for the foam blaster seems a bit pricey.

I love it cause they have a product for everything! And it's all easy to find and understand after just a little research. But most importantly, it all freaking works!(and smells good)
Yeah, if you wanna drop me an email I could get together a couple of documents with products, order of use, and maybe some techniques for you. Or if you don't want to use your real address cause it's the internet, just create a fake one to use for this...
